Adopt-A-School Program

Adopt-A-School: Local Church Ownership Plan:

Midlands' Christian Learning Centers (MCLC) equips local churches to provide off-campus Bible Education in School Time programs for public school students. MCLC provides teacher orientation classes, teacher training, curriculum, insurance and structure. MCLC develops a relationship with school administrators, secures school board policy and helps with student recruitment.

Local church outreach to a Class (15 students):

A local church or churches can be the governing body of a Bible Education in School Time program. We recommend three churches working in partnership with the local school owning and operating all aspects of the Bible Education in School Time program.

Facilities:

School Time Bible Education (STBE) classes have to be held in a non-school building. Most STBE classes are held in churches, but have also been held in mobile classrooms, or nearby community buildings. The most important consideration in selecting a location in close proximity to the school and availability of space. We recommend using donated classroom space at the local church.

Transportation:

Many STBE classes are held within walking distance of the school. When the facility is too far for walking transportation must be provided. Typically the church bus is used. Travel time of 3-5 minutes one way is acceptable. We recommend transporting students with an adult caregiver/teacher from the school to the church.

Teachers:

Teachers supervise and educate students in the Bible. A qualified teacher with a firm grasp of the Bible and relates to the youth. We recommend the local church provide a qualified teacher with 3 years experience of relating/communicating God's word to youth. (Preferably a youth worker, youth pastor, teacher, associate pastor or pastor).

Cost:

MCLC requests (not requires) that local churches participating in the School Time Bible Education Program include their church outreach budget for $200 a month. This allows for program advancement, operations, teacher training, curriculum development and outreach to new districts and schools.

Most importantly, your sponsored school or class will give the opportunity for students to develop a relationship with Christ as Lord and Savior.

Churches that do not adopt a class/school may choose an option of sponsoring a STBE program for $200 per month. (Approximately 15-20 students for nine weeks)
